Matthew was called to the Bar in 2018 and joined MF&G’s Litigation Department in 2019. He has a general Commercial Litigation practice with a focus on Employment Law and Public Law, in particular Judicial Review.
Matthew has successfully conducted several matters before the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal of Jamaica. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies (UWI) and is a graduate of the Norman Manley Law School (NMLS). Matthew represented the UWI in the Munroe E. Price International Law Media Moot Court Competition in New York City, and the NMLS in the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington DC. At the Jessup, he was recognised as being in the top 20 advocates among thousands of participants in the world’s largest Moot Court competition.
He is a former Head Boy of the Wolmer’s Boys’ School and a former Director of the Wolmer’s Preparatory School. At UWI, Matthew served in several leadership roles, including President of the Mona Law Society and the Faculty of Law Representative to the Guild of Students.
Matthew coaches International Law Mooting teams and is also an adjunct tutor at the Faculty of Law where he delivers tutorials in Real Property Law and Legal Methods Research and Writing.
Outside of the practice of Law, Matthew enjoys travelling, films and a good conversation.
