Amanda Montague joined the Firm in 2016 and is a Partner in the Litigation Department. Her practice areas include corporate and commercial litigation, aviation, shipping & marine, banking and defamation.
She is an experienced lawyer with a practical and results-driven approach to negotiation and litigation. Her clients include international airlines, shipowners, protection and indemnity clubs, commercial banks, multinational hotel chains and telecommunications companies.
Amanda is the leader of the Firm’s aviation litigation practice and has secured several landmark court decisions relating to personal injury claims, air accidents and other claims under the Montreal and Warsaw Conventions.
She has a wealth of experience in marine litigation including ship arrests, judicial sales, collision claims, towage claims, disputes relating to carriage of goods and charter-party agreements.
Her banking practice is also expansive and includes enforcement of securities and debt recovery. Her expertise in navigating cross-border litigation issues such as conflict of laws, enforcement of foreign judgments and awards, international arbitration, and jurisdiction clauses also makes her an asset in advising on multinational commercial transactions.
Amanda heads the Firm’s Client Newsletter & Editorial Committee and tutors Contract Law at the Faculty of Law, University of the West Indies, Mona.
