Gavin Goffe has distinguished himself as a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and the Labour Practice Group. His practice areas include General Commercial Litigation with emphasis on Banking Litigation and Labour Litigation. Although the majority of his practice consists of appellate work, Gavin has a vibrant practice in the Supreme Court and before the Industrial Disputes Tribunal. Gavin is particularly well-known for his defense of corporate clients in Unfair Dismissal claims.
Prior to joining the Litigation Department, Gavin spent three years in our Commercial Department where his practice areas included tax, corporate finance, joint ventures, investment funds and cross-border investments. Gavin contributes his talents to the Norman Manley Law School, where he tutors Civil Procedure and Practice, and also to the Jamaican Bar Association, serving as its Honorary Secretary from 2007 to 2011. He is currently a member of the Council of the Jamaican Bar Association, sits on its Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Technology Committee. He also a member of the Council of Students Loan Bureau.
Since 1998, Gavin has volunteered teaching Math and English to adult learners. In 2008, he co-founded The Adult Learning Centres of Jamaica, a not-for-profit organisation focused on improving adult literacy. He also sits on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army in Jamaica, Eastern Division.
