Commercial Litigation

Our Commercial Litigation team boasts a long track record of success in disputes originating in the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of Jamaica and at the appellate level, including the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

We regularly represent local, international, and multi-national entities in disputes relating to the interpretation, performance, or breach of commercial agreements, often involving agreements that are cross-border in nature.

We advise and represent the island’s largest commercial banks and other boutique licensed money lending institutions in recovering significant debt through the enforcement of financial instruments and realisation of various forms of security.

Shareholder oppression and derivate action claims are staples of the commercial litigation practice. Our litigation team has represented companies and shareholders in many of the high stake’s disputes that have arisen in Jamacia in recent years.

Our commercial litigation team are often sought after to act as local counsel to enforce foreign judgments against assets and judgment debtors within our jurisdiction, including the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards.

This team also supports clients in the pre-litigation negotiation and mediation to arrive at out of court settlement of disputes in appropriate cases.
